Untuk dapat di 3D print dan memulai proses Rapid Prototyping, kami membutuhkan file dalam bentuk STL.
Dibawah ini adalah cara untuk export dari file native CAD Anda ke format STL.

- File > Export
- Save As > STL
- Enter Filename
- Save
AutoCAD
- At the command prompt type "FACETRES"
- Set FACETRES to 10 (FACETRES value from 0.1 to 10, the higher the number, the better the details)
- Type "STLOUT"
- Select the objects
- Enter Y or hit Enter for Create a binary STL file? [Yes/No] <Yes>
- Enter Filename
- Save
Autodesk 3ds Max (3D Studio MAX)
- File > Export
- Select type StereoLitho *.stl
- Enter Filename
- Save
- Select Binary
- OK
Autodesk Inventor / Mechanical Desktop
Part individual atau satu assembly bisa di export.
- Manage tab > Update panel > Rebuild All
- File > Save as > Save Copy As
- Select STL
- Enter Filename
- Select Options
- Format > Binary
- Units > mm or inches
- Resolution > High
- Save
Bentley Microstation V8
- File > Export
- Choose file type STL. A dialog box opens.
- Set Stroke tolerance to 0.05mm (0.002 in)
- Select Binary
- Click Export
- Enter Filename
- Click Save
Blender
- File > Export > STL...
- Enter Filename
- Select location
- Click button Export STL
Cadkey / KeyCreator
- File > Export > STL
- Enter Filename > OK
- In the options dialog:
- Change Format to Binary
- Change "Facet Tolerance" if a higher resolution is required
Catia
Export ke format STL hanya dapat di lakukan di Part Design.
Jika ingin export assemblu (CATProduct) kedalam satu file STL, maka harus di convert ke format Assembly Design Environment seperti dibawah ini:
- Select the entire product tree
- Tools > Generate CATPart from Product
- Enter New Part number
- Do NOT check: Merge all bodies of each part in one body
- OK
Sekarang, dapat di export ke CATPart di Part Design.
Akurasi dari file STL tergantung kepada Display Accuracy. Pertama kita harus setting Display Accuracy
- Tools > Options...
- In the tree select General > Display
- Select the Performance tab
- Under 3D Accuracy select Fixed
- Set to 0.02 mm (0.0008 in)
- Adjust Curves' accuracy ratio to 0.2
- OK
- File > Save As
- Enter Filename
- Select type stl
- Save
Creo Direct (Creo Elements/Direct, CoCreate, OneSpace, SolidDesigner)
- File > Save
- Press Select > select the objects (or click All Objects)
- Select File Type STL (*.stl)
- Click Options
- Check Binary
- Max Deviation Distance: enter 0.025 mm (0.001 in)
- Angle: enter 30°
- Enter Filename
- Save
Creo Parametric (Creo Elements/Pro, Pro/ENGINEER)
- File > Save a Copy
- Select type STL > OK
- Select Coordinate System Standard
- Check Binary
- Set Chord Height to 0 (Pro/E changes it to the smallest allowable value)
- Leave Angle Control at the default
- Enter Filename > OK
Google Sketchup
Google Sketchup tidak bisa export ke format STL secara native, makan Anda memerlukan plugin. Berikut adalah beberapa pilihan:
Atau, Anda bisa juga export ke format .dae, lalu buka Meshlab atau Blender dan import file .dae yang tadi telah di save.
I-DEAS
- File > Export > Rapid Prototype File
- Select the part
- Select Prototype Device > SLA500 > OK
- Set Absolute Facet Deviation to 0.000395
- Select Binary > OK
Ironcad
- Right Click on the part
- Part Properties > Rendering
- Set Facet Smoothing to 150
- File > Export
- Select .STL
Revit
- Download the STL Exporter from Autodesk Labs
- Unzip and install using the installer for your version of Revit
- Load the 3D model and select a view
- External Tools > Export
- Adjust and scale your model using a STL viewer
STL Exporter export satu STL unit dengan hitungan 1 foot (304.8mm). Jadi, Anda harus pastikan lagi bahwa model Anda sudah di skala dengan benar.
Rhino
- File > Export Selected or File > Save As
- Select the objects to be exported
- Select File Type Stereolithography (*.stl)
- Enter Filename
- Save
- In STL Mesh Export Options
- Enter Tolerance 0.02 mm (0.0008 inches)
- OK
- Alternatively press Detailed Controls... (Polygon Mesh Detailed Controls)
- Set Maximum angle to 30°
- Set Maximum distance edge to surface to 0.02 mm (0.0008 inches)
- Set Minimum intial grid quads to 16
- Check Refine mesh
- Leave all other controls at 0 or unchecked
- OK
- In STL Export Options
- Select Binary
- Uncheck Export Open Objects
- OK
- If you get the STL Export Warning dialog, Cancel and fix your modeling errors
Siemens PLM NX (Unigraphics)
- File > Export > STL
- Select Output Type Binary
- Set Triangle Tol to 0.025 mm (0.001 in)
- Set Adjacency Tol to 0.1 mm (0.04 in)
- Set Auto Normal Gen to On
- Set Normal Display to Off
- Set Triangle Display to On
- OK
- Enter Filename > OK
Solid Edge (Siemens PLM)
- File > Save As
- Set type to STL
- Click Options
- Set conversion Tolerance to 0.025 mm (0.001 in)
- Set Surface Plane Angle to 45.0°
- Select Binary
- OK
- Enter Filename
- Save
SolidWorks
- File > Save As...
- Set type to STL(*.stl)
- Click Options...
- Output as: check Binary
- Unit: > Millimeters or Inches
- Resolution > Fine
- OK
- Enter Filename
